The TOUGHROOF system uses a seamless application with 7 layers to stop water infiltration and Mother Nature. Single Ply and Torch On roof systems do not stand up to our harsh Canadian winters because these systems are thin and seamed, there is only one chance for Mother Nature and water to get into your building. Mother Nature finds it easy to infiltrate buildings that have a thin seamed, single layered roof.

- Regular hot asphalt has been replaced with rubberized low fuming hot asphalt with more elongation and elasticity, creating a 150% longer life expectancy than traditional hot asphalt systems. Rubberized asphalt becomes molten in sunlight at a lower ambient temperature creating a roof system that can heal itself when damaged.

- Traditional felt paper reinforcement rolls have been replaced by POLARA® polyester reinforcement rolls that are 10 times stronger than felt paper. The strength and toughness of POLARA® polyester reinforcement enables the TOUGHROOF system to achieve new heights in water tightness and puncture-resistance performance. Mother Nature can be tough on your roof. POLARA® is extremely strong and holds up in extreme conditions. Strong, lightweight and durable.

- Pea gravel sunscreen has been replaced with DuROCK's TIOCOAT white elastomeric coating sunscreen. This white elastomeric coating is the whitest and brightest roof coating available today.

TIOCOAT is extremely elastic, durable and fully replaceable. In years to come, only the top layer of material will need updating. This is an extremely low cost solution to rejuvenate your roof back to its original state at a fraction of the cost of full roof replacement down the road. TIOCOAT is LEED compliant and environmentally friendly.

Using a multi-ply white top coating greatly reduces inside temperatures, HVAC units will run more efficiently; saving energy and saving you money, this in turn reduces the Urban Heat Island Effect (link to Snowball Effect) and the building’s carbon footprint on the Earth.
